After all, most of the highly upvoted answers were either stories obviously made up on a whim, featuring vampires as either wealthy, handsome heirs or brooding, deeply romantic old playboys – essentially, romance novels.

The few who did seriously delve into the origins of vampire legends and potential medical explanations were few and far between, mostly overshadowed. Clearly, most people didn’t think this question needed to be taken seriously.
