“Right, right. I forgot Mom is a great doctor.”
Convinced that Lin Ya was her mother, Lu Yan was thrilled.
Huo Mian just smiled and didn’t speak.
“Sis, why are you staying here with… Mom? What’s this place?”
“This is our home,” Lin Ya said before Huo Mian could open her mouth.
“Our… home?” Lu Yan looked confused.
“Let’s go. I’ll take you to see the person you want to see the most…”
“Wait.”
Lu Yan didn’t move.
“What is it, Yan?” Lin Ya smiled patiently.
“Mom… Mom, can I make a phone call?” Lu Yan asked.
“To whom?” Lin Ya asked.
“Qiao Fei.”
“Oh, your boyfriend?” Lin Ya seemed to know about Qiao Fei.
Lu Yan blushed.
“Yeah. He must be crazy with worry. I must tell him I’m safe.”
“There’s no rush in it. Let’s eat first.”
“Mom, let me call him. I’ll just say a few words to him.”
It was obvious that Lu Yan cared for Qiao Fei very much.
Instead of being befuddled by the sudden good news, she remembered to call Qiao Fei. If Qiao Fei knew he was so important to her, he’d be thrilled.
Huo Mian didn’t speak because she knew Lin Ya wouldn’t agree.
Lin Ya’d never let Lu Yan or Huo Mian have contact with the outside world.
Huo Mian just waited to see what Lin Ya would say to dissuade Lu Yan.

“Okay. Mom, I got it. I won’t make the phone call.”
“Great. You’re a good girl. You two come with me. I’ll take you to the best dinner you’ll ever have.”
Then she led Huo Mian and Lin Ya through one white corridor after another in the maze-like building.
Just woken up, Lu Yan was delighted to see her surroundings. She joked with her sister and even touched her big belly.
However, Huo Mian’s steps were heavy, knowing that their dad was here, too.
Lin Ya had taken Huo Mian, Lu Yan, and their dad to this place.
What was her real purpose? What was Red Demon?
Huo Mian wanted to get to the bottom of all these mysteries…
Finally, Lin Ya stopped in a European-style dining room which looked extremely luxurious with lots of decorations made of ivory.
Lu Yan was stupefied. She had seen lots of treasures but had never seen so many precious ivory decorations in one room.
On the long table were all kinds of dishes and fruits, including Huo Mian’s favorite seafood, Lu Yan’s favorite dumplings, sauced beef, and turbot.
They were all Chinese dishes, which showed that the dishes were especially prepared for them.
“Mom, I’m starving. Can we eat now?” Lu Yan turned her head and asked Lin Ya.
