Director Wu had come with her, or she’d never have agreed to come.
Her bodyguards followed her in a car, but they were stopped when they arrived at the destination.
“Wait for me here. I’m fine.” Huo Mian looked at them reassuringly.
The bodyguards stopped and their leader immediately called Qin Chu to report this incident.
Qin Chu was handling files in his office. Seeing the number of the bodyguard, he answered immediately.

“What happened to Mian?”

Ending the call, Qin Chu searched for the plate number immediately.
Seeing the owner of the car, his eyes had a different expression in it…

But he was sure the guy wouldn’t do anything to Huo Mian, seeing how he had taken her in such a public way.
Huo Mian and Director Wu were brought into a compartment with antique decorations.
Five minutes later, the door opened, and a grey-haired man dressed in a blue plaid shirt walked in. He looked to be in his fifties.
His face was solemn as if he was in a lousy mood.
“You guys wait outside.”
“Yes.”
After the bodyguards left the room, the man walked over and sat down.
Recognizing the man, Director Wu bolted up as his expression changed drastically. “Party Secretary… you…”
“Sit down. Sit down.”
The man waved his hand, and Director Wu sat back down in dread.
Seeing Director Wu’s expression and hearing his greeting of “Party Secretary”, Huo Mian knew this man must be Zeng Rou’s father, the big figure in the provincial government—Party Secretary Zeng.
“Party Secretary… I didn’t know you were here.”
Director Wu was confused. He had been picked up from his home and then driven to South Side to get Huo Mian.

He had seen Secretary Zeng once when he went to a meeting in the provincial government building but there had never been any exchanges between them.

Secretary Zeng glanced at Huo Mian. “Vice Director Huo, I guess you know my daughter… Zeng Rou?”
“I do.” Huo Mian nodded.
“When she got wounded in her leg, I told her to stay in a hospital in the provincial capital, but she said you were her good friend and an excellent doctor, so I agreed to let her come to your hospital.”
“Yeah. She told me that.”
“Then please tell me where my daughter is,” Secretary Zeng said with some anger.
Obviously, he knew Zeng Rou was missing and had come to demand an answer.
