Han Yueyao felt intimidated by Su Yu’s father; he looked to be a guy who didn’t tolerate nonsense.
It was said that he always had the final say in the family, just like Grandpa Su.
He dealt with things with vigor and decisiveness.
In the past years, the only woman who could win praise from Su Yu’s father was Huo Mian.
Even though Han Yueyao didn’t want to be with Su Yu, she was still intimidated.
“Hi.” Su Yu’s father nodded but didn’t say more.
“Yao, how come you’re here? Are you full?”
“Yeah. I’m afraid I’d get fat, so I came out to take a walk…”
“Are the dishes to your taste?”
“Yeah, they are so delicious. Aunt, the person who prepared the food is a five-star cook.”
She wasn’t flattering. She had felt the fish cooked by her father was the most delicious dish, but after tasting the steamed grouper made by the Su Family’s chef, she knew her father had to admit defeat.
“Are you and Xiaoxiao roommates?” Su Yu’s father asked suddenly.
“Yes, Uncle.”
“Xiaoxiao is a mischievous girl. Her father asked us to take care of her, but the girl has grown up and is quite a handful. Yao, you must take care of Xiaoxiao for us,” Su Yu’s mother said.
“I will, Auntie.”
“Xiaoxiao’s personality is not likeable and she doesn’t have friends here. But she likes you and praised you at the dinner table, saying you do all the cleaning in the dorm room and even do the laundry for her.”
“It’s nothing. I’m her friend,” Han Yueyao said modestly and didn’t dare say anything out of line in front of the seniors.
“What’s your position in Yu’s company?”
Su Yu’s father asked again.
“I…” Han Yueyao was about to say she ran errands, but on second thought, she decided against it since it would sound like Su Yu did wrong with her.
So she said, “I’m an assistant in the performance department.”
“Assistant?” Su Yu’s father frowned.
“Maybe Yu wants her to start from the bottom,” Su Yu’s mother explained.
“Girl, do you want to become an actress?”
Su Yu’s father asked again.
“I…” Before Su Yueyao could answer, he continued, “But our Su Family won’t accept an actress as our daughter-in-law.”
“Uncle, to be honest…I’ve never wanted to be your daughter-in-law.”
Han Yueyao knew her words would be poorly received.
Sure enough, Su Yu’s father’s face fell at her words.
Mrs. Su signaled at Han Yueyao with her eyes, warning her not to say this to Su Yu’s father.
“You mean it’s wishful thinking on our side?”
Su Yu’s father glanced at his wife in disapproval and left.
It was obvious that he didn’t like Han Yueyao’s answer.
After all, if she didn’t want to be his daughter-in-law, it would be a waste of time for him to talk to her.
“Yaoyao… You… Forget it. I’ll talk to you later.”
Sighing slightly, Mrs. Su thought the girl was too frank with words and offended her husband.
Han Yueyao looked after the departing couple and puffed out her cheeks. She comforted herself, “Forget it. It’s difficult to be around such in-laws… Han Yueyao, you can stop your wishful thinking now… That guy… is not your cup of tea.”

Su Yu was on his way to the foyer to get more wine and heard Han Yueyao’s mumbling.
“Holy Mother! You startled me…” Han Yueyao jumped.
“Don’t call me mother. You can call me father, though.” Su Yu teased her.
