Qin Chu thought Huo Mian wanted to explain to him what she’d been doing with Su Yu.

Huo Mian was exasperated.

“I wasn’t about to explain. We’ve known each other’s mind for years and I don’t need to explain to you this trivial thing. I was just wondering why Zeng Rou did it… She had concealed herself very well and even made me believe she saved me last time. If Yan didn’t find out she had planted the bug on me, I’d never have guessed it. It’s strange that such a cautious woman exposed herself by making a fuss about me and Su Yu… Shouldn’t she pretend to be friends with me to get more intelligence?” Huo Mian analyzed Zeng Rou’s behavior calmly.

“You can’t analyze a woman’s thoughts with logic… Maybe, she’s truly fallen in love with Su Yu?”

Of course, this was only Qin Chu’s conjecture; in fact, Zeng Rou was still a mystery to him.

Firstly, he didn’t know who was behind Zeng Rou; at least, he hadn’t tracked down the force behind her yet.

Secondly, did Zeng Rou befriend Huo Mian only to monitor her or for a higher goal?

Thirdly, what was her standing now? Would she continue pretending to be their friend or fall out with them?

Zeng Rou was full of contradictions, confusing Huo Mian and Qin Chu.

“Her weird behavior reminded me of something that happened long ago…” Huo Mian began.

“What is it?”

“Honey, do you remember a girl named Yu Li in our high school class?”

“No,” Mr. Qin answered without taking a second to think, exasperating Huo Mian. He never paid attention to people he didn’t care for.

“She was a bit chubby and her family was well-off managing a fast food chain store…”

“Still not a clue.”

Huo Mian: “…”

“Fine. I’ll get to the point. When I first entered the class, I had no friends, so I hung out with Yu Li for a while… She was very nice to me… I wasn’t pretty and came from a poor family, so I didn’t know what she could get by befriending me. Thinking she was a true friend, I was good to her, too… But once, I happened to overhear her talking about me in the washroom, saying I was a penniless beggar from an impoverished family who took advantage of her by taking food and other stuff from her… I was astonished. Indeed, she often bought food for me, but I returned those favors and didn’t take advantage of her… I thought hard but still couldn’t understand why she said those things. However, after I overheard her conversation, she was as nice to me as before and even asked for a leave to buy medicine for me when I got a cold… Still she continued badmouthing me behind my back. I thought for a long time but still can’t understand this behavior.”

“Maybe… she had multiple personalities.” Qin Chu was confused, too.

“Later I thought Yu Li was just a person of contradictions… On one hand, she was nice to me and enjoyed being my good friend… On the other hand, she kept slandering me and made everyone think that I was a bad person… I just wonder if Zeng Rou is also such a person…”

As Huo Mian paused in wonder, Qin Chu nodded his agreement. “It’s quite possible… But Zeng Rou obviously has a higher IQ, so we must be wary of her.”

Meanwhile, Su Yu took Zeng Rou to a remote corner in the corridor.

“You can tell me whatever you want to say right here.” Zeng Rou’s tone wasn’t friendly.

“Zeng Rou, are you going to ruin me just because I rejected you? Hehe…” Su Yu turned his head and asked with a sneer.

Zeng Rou was surprised to see this dark side of Su Yu.
