Just as Xixi was about to say something, there was a knock on the door.

Rick turned his head, his expression serious. “Come in.”

“Godfather… we really need to go. Something… happened in the U.S.” One of Rick’s men looked at Xixi as if she was heavy baggage.

“I got it. You can leave now.” Rick was expressionless, a complete poker face.

Before he could finish, Rick ordered him out.

“Get out.”

The man trembled at Rick’s orders. He immediately shut the door and left.

Biting her lower lip, Xixi sat down beside Rick and took his hands. “Rick, you’ve already stayed with me for many days. I know that you have important business to handle. A lot of people are waiting for you. So, you should go. Although I want to snuggle with you every day too, I’m not that unreasonable.”

“It’s okay, don’t worry about it.” Rick took Xixi’s hands and comforted her.

“I’m serious. I don’t want to be your burden. I also won’t try to convince you to quit. I know that you were born into that environment and that a lot of things are not up to you, that quitting isn’t an easy feat. So, you do what you have to do… As long as… you have me in your heart… As long as you’ll come back to see me when you miss me, that’s good enough for me.” Xixi was clearly choked up during the latter half of her sentence. She really didn’t want to leave Rick.

Due to the three years that they had spent apart, Xixi didn’t want to spend even a second more without Rick next to her.

She knew, however, that it was impossible; she didn’t want to burden Rick.

“But you haven’t healed yet…” Rick pulled Xixi closer to him by the shoulders, worried.

“My wound isn’t going to be a big problem. Even Mian said I’ll be fine as long as I rest!”

“Don’t worry. Your job right now is to get better. Nothing else matters.” Rick decided to prioritize Xixi’s well being over everything else.

During his extended stay in the country, Rick conducted all his business through the phone. It was definitely not as convenient as being present at the scenes.

As a result, troubles arose over at the U.S. Compared to Xixi’s injuries, however, these troubles were insignificant.

Rick stayed with Xixi through the New Year, plus the dozen days before and after it.

He had never done anything like this before. In the prior three years, he couldn’t even imagine relaxing like this.

“Rick…”

“Yeah?”

“It’s kind of boring at the resort… Maybe we should head back to C City and find Mian. I also miss the twins…”

“Sure, you decide.” Rick was a man of few words. He agreed with everything Xixi wanted.

Just like that, Rick and Xixi returned to C City.

Xixi had wanted to bring Rick back to her family. After all, they were truly in love and meeting the parents was unavoidable.

Due to Rick’s status, however, they were afraid that her family would be put in danger. In the end, they decided not to visit.

That night, Rick went to hang out with Qin Chu. Xixi dolled herself up and returned home to have dinner with her parents.

Although her parents complained about her absence during the New Year, they forgave their youngest daughter and also didn’t ask too much about her whereabouts.

After dinner, Xixi pushed open the doors to her older sister’s room.
